The Southern Cross Cable Networks (SCCN) was the first modern all-optical submarine cable to connect Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand to the United States. The figure-8 physical topology uses more than 31,000 km of cable to connect its nine endpoints. While the cable was initially designed to provide 160 Gbps of capacity, it's been upgraded multiple times and now supports 6.5 Tbps of traffic.
