In 2018 Hawaiki connected Sydney and Auckland with the United States, with links to American Samoa and Honolulu on the way. As New Zealand's first new cable to the US since 2001, it changed the market dramatically & opened up real competition in the submarine cable market. It's a unique cable in that it was built by a private company that's not a telco or web company. It anchor tenants were Amazon and New Zealand's government research & education network, REANNZ.
Lands at:

- Kapolei, Hawaii
- Mangawhai, New Zealand
- Pago Pago, American Samoa
