IUSN, Telecom Niue, and the University of the South Pacific all operate C-band satellite services. Capacity into the island is until mid-2020 was in the range of 30mbps shared across all providers - more than doubling the island's 2014 capacity. Niue does not yet have submarine fibre access, and its normally resident population of fewer than a thousand residents isn't big enough to support one on a commercial basis. A gained access to the global Internet via the Manatua cable project via a grant from the Asian Development Bank will have it participate in the upcoming Manatua cable project and additional funding from New Zealand's government. Their submarine cable connection was turned on in May 2021.
